She attended the University of Southern California, where she studied film and television. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. Wells's first major television role was as Becca on The Birthday Boys. She also had a recurring role as Lindsay on Master of None. In 2019, she began starring as Natalie Greer on PEN15.
