The Outer Limits is een Amerikaanse sciencefictionserie van de zender ABC. De serie ging in première op 16 september 1963.
Elke aflevering van de serie bevatte een op zichzelf staand verhaal, dat werd geïntroduceerd door Vic Perrin. Perrin opende tevens de serie met de volgende tekst:
There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. Fun and Games
Two Earth people are transported to an alien planet, along with two aliens. The are told by their abductors that they will fight each other to the death. The stakes are high: the homeworld of the losers will be destroyed slowly, for the further amusement of their captors.
